An Optomap exam provides:
A computerized ultra wide field digital scan of the retina
An in depth view of the retina (where disease can start)
The ability for you to view last year’s scan and this year’s scan side by side for comparison and analysis with your doctor during your exam
A permanent record for your medical file, giving your doctor a chance to track and diagnose potential eye diseases/conditions
Important information for you and your doctor to help protect your vision
Insurance typically does not cover any advanced screening technology beyond the general eye exam. Currently, some of the VSP plans will cover a retinal screening. Please check your plan coverage or ask us if it is covered. We will perform the Optomap Retinal Exam for a fee of $39.00 and the doctors will go over with you the details of what we see in the images.
